Little Dragons

Ages 3–5

Introducing our youngest students to the fundamentals of martial arts through fun, high‑energy classes that build coordination, listening skills, and confidence through age‑appropriate activities in a supportive environment.

Smithfield Dojo – Weekdays 3:30-4:00pm, Saturday 8:30am and 9:00am

Panthers

Ages 6–8

A beginner martial arts program for 6-8 year olds focused on building foundational skills through structured techniques that encourage discipline, teamwork, and focus. This stage marks the beginning of their belt progression, supporting steady growth in confidence and capability.

Cobras

Ages 9–12

A beginner martial arts program for 9-12 year olds teaching foundational techniques, basic sparring skills, and essential training habits, with a strong emphasis on focus, fitness, self-defence and personal development.

Junior Adults

Ages 13–16

Designed as a bridge between junior and adult classes, this program supports students as they build practical self‑defence skills, mental resilience, and improved technical ability in a supportive environment.

Adults

Ages 16+

Designed for adults of all fitness and experience levels, this program focuses on foundational techniques, practical self‑defence, and confidence building through structured, progressive training.

Extra Events

At Nexus, the fun doesn’t stop at regular training.

Throughout the year we run a range of special events designed to challenge, inspire, and reward our students. From competitive fight days and team challenges to movie nights, holiday camps, and community awareness weeks. There’s always something exciting on the calendar for the whole Nexus family.

NEXUS School Holiday Day Camps: April dates for Smithfield and Woree Dojos, 9am to 3pm. Cost $60 per child.

School Holiday Day Camps

Our Nexus School Holiday Day Camps offer a fun, safe, and engaging way to keep kids entertained and active during the school holidays. Each day includes age‑appropriate martial arts drills, alongside games, fitness activities, creative craft sessions, and a relaxing movie time. Guided by our instructors, students enjoy a great mix of movement, creativity, and fun. Designed to build confidence and teamwork, our camps help kids stay active, make new friends, and enjoy a school holiday experience they’ll love.

Nexus Kumite Tournament

Nexus Kumite Tournament is held annually and is an in-house sparring event designed to allow our students to test their skills in a competitive environment.  Sparring events include Grappling/Submission Sparring, Kickboxing, MMA. Open to beginners and advanced students.

Nexus Gladiator Challenge

The Nexus Gladiator Challenge is a fun event which will test your endurance, strength, agility and mostly importantly your ability to work as part of a team and have fun. Students are divided into teams and allocated an Instructor as their team leader. They will compete in a series of events throughout the day including sparring, rope climbing, wall handstand challenge, push up competition, high kick competition, gladiator sword battles and team tug-of-war.
The event is open to all Panthers, Cobras and Junior Adults students and is suitable for all skill levels from beginner to advanced.

MMA Fight Days

Nexus Fight Day, is an in‑house MMA competition designed specifically for our advanced students who want to test themselves in a competitive environment.

All Fights will be 3 Rounds – Round 1 – Grappling, Round 2 – Kickboxing, Round 3 – MMA

Nexus Fight Day is open exclusively to advanced level students wanting to push themselves and gain deeper experience in MMA sparring and competition.

Junior Leadership Program

Our Junior Leadership Program is designed to help students develop confidence, responsibility, and positive leadership skills both on and off the mat. Through structured training, mentoring, and role‑model opportunities, students build communication skills, discipline, and empathy while reinforcing their martial arts foundations. This program encourages young leaders to lead by example, support others, and grow into confident, respectful individuals.

'Nexus Kids Against Bullying' Week

Nexus is taking a stand against bullying and during the first few weeks of the school year all classes are focused on helping our students to learn strategies to deal with bullying. It is our aim to raise awareness of the issue of bullying and to assist our students to identify and address bullying behaviours to set them on the right path for the start of the school year. We have some great activities that students can get involved in…..Anti-Bullying Poster Competition and our Nexus Kids Against Bullying Pledge wall where they make a promise to speak up and reach out on all issues related to bullying.

Child Safety Week

Our Nexus Child Safety Week is a time to empower our young students with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe both inside and outside the dojo.

As part of this important week, we participate in Day for Daniel, a national initiative promoting child safety awareness and honouring Daniel Morcombe’s legacy.

Our instructors lead age-appropriate activities focused on:

  • Personal safety & awareness
  • Recognising unsafe situations
  • Building confidence to speak up
  • Respecting boundaries

Movie and Pizza Nights

Our Movie and Pizza Nights give our students the chance have heaps of fun with their Nexus friends. They are treated to a movie, pizza, popcorn and lots of fun and games with our Instructors. Most importantly this is our way of saying “Thank You” to all our dedicated Nexus Mum’s and Dad’s who get to have a night off!!!

Christmas Carnival

Each year we celebrate the end of year with an awesome Nexus Kickmas Party!! All of our Nexus families are invited to join us for an afternoon of fun for the whole family with lots of games, activities, fun and food plus the presentation of our end of year awards! There is always lots of prizes to we won and Santa always likes to pop in for a visit!!!
